Lewisville police are investigating after a deceased fetus was found near Sandy Beach Road and Turtle Trail at Lewisville Lake Park, according to a report from NBC 5 DFW.

Police said the fetus was estimated at five to six months gestation. The discovery was reported at about 8 a.m. July 10, NBC 5 reported.

Medical examiner to conduct examination

Police said the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office would conduct an examination. No findings from that examination were included in the approved reporting.

The available information establishes the location of the discovery, the approximate time it was reported and the next step involving the medical examiner. It does not establish the fetus’s identity, how it came to be near the park or whether anyone may face criminal liability.

Those circumstances should not be assumed while the examination and police investigation are pending. This report will be limited to information attributed publicly to Lewisville police as authorities continue their work.
