Royse City I-30 plan permanently moves Erby Campbell exit to Blackland Road

The Blackland Road exit permanently replaces the Erby Campbell Boulevard exit; drivers should check current conditions before traveling.

Published 1 minute read

Rockwall County announced several I-30 traffic-pattern changes near Royse City for July 13 and 14, including a permanent change for drivers who previously used the Erby Campbell Boulevard exit.

The opening times were weather-dependent, and no follow-up confirmation was located. Drivers should check the current route status before traveling.

Westbound I-30

Westbound traffic was scheduled to shift overnight July 13-14 onto new pavement between FM 2642 and FM 548.

The westbound frontage road from FM 2642 to FM 35 was scheduled to open July 13.

Eastbound ramps

The eastbound I-30 entrance ramp at FM 551 and the exit ramp to Blackland Road were scheduled to open July 14.

The Blackland Road exit permanently replaces the Erby Campbell Boulevard exit.

Check conditions before driving

The county’s traffic-pattern notice directs motorists to DriveTexas for daily lane-closure information and offers enrollment in text alerts for major scheduled closures.

The work is part of a $348 million project to widen I-30 and add continuous frontage roads from SH 205 to the Hunt County line. Overall completion is expected in early 2028.
