A man and his dog reportedly died after a rescue attempt in a Country Lakes-area pond that published reports place just inside Argyle’s town limits.

What reportedly happened

Published reporting indicates the man entered the water to try to save his dog. Dive teams, sonar boats and drones reportedly assisted the response. Both bodies were recovered Wednesday evening.

Denton County ESD, Denton Fire, Lewisville Fire, Flower Mound Fire and Argyle Police reportedly participated in the response.

Why reports used different locations

The pond was reportedly just inside Argyle’s town limits, although some initial coverage described the incident as occurring in Denton.

As of July 16, published reports had not identified the man or provided an official cause of death.
