DART reportedly selects Candidate A for CEO; public naming expected July 21

A 9-6 board vote reportedly chose an unnamed finalist. A July 21 meeting is official, but DART has not said who Candidate A is.

Published 2 minute read

DART’s board has reportedly chosen an unnamed preferred candidate in a 9-6 vote, but the agency has not publicly identified that person. Published reporting says DART plans to announce the selected finalist July 21 after completing the employment process.

The same reporting points to Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. as Candidate A. Contextual evidence cited in published reporting suggests Ford is Candidate A, but that remains distinct from an official DART announcement.

What DART has confirmed

DART’s official finalist announcement named Ford, Dee Leggett and Monica Tellez-Fowler as the three candidates for president and CEO. The agency had expected its board to vote on a final candidate July 14.

Published reporting indicates the board subsequently selected Candidate A by a 9-6 vote. DART has not publicly matched that designation to any of the three finalists.

What the July 21 notice establishes

The Dallas County official notices page lists a special-called DART Board of Directors meeting scheduled for July 21. The county notice confirms the meeting date; it does not identify Candidate A or say the name will be announced during the meeting.

Published reporting separately says DART expects to disclose the selected finalist’s name July 21 once the employment process is complete. Until DART names the person, Ford’s selection should be treated as reported rather than official.

Readers can review the finalists’ backgrounds and public comments in DFW Daily Brief’s earlier guide to the DART CEO finalists.
