A $13.8 million state registration adds a cost estimate to McKinney’s planned reconstruction of several downtown street segments. The city says work is scheduled to begin in late 2026, although that timing is subject to change.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation record lists the job as new construction with an estimated cost of $13.8 million and a status of Project Registered. Registration status does not establish that construction has begun.
Where the work is planned
McKinney identifies four affected street segments:
- Tennessee Street from Virginia Street to Lamar Street
- Lamar Street from Church Street to McDonald Street/State Highway 5
- Hunt Street from Kentucky Street to McDonald Street/State Highway 5
- Kentucky Street from Hunt Street to Lamar Street
What the project includes
Planned work includes full pavement reconstruction; upgrades to water, wastewater and storm-drainage infrastructure; ADA-compliant sidewalks; street lighting; and landscaping and hardscaping.
