Garland has been designated a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community, the city announced. Through the designation, Garland can receive ongoing production guidance and connections to location requests and casting calls from the Texas Film Commission.
What certification requires
Under the state program, certified communities must name a local-government liaison, complete commission training, adopt enforceable filming guidelines and submit photos of at least five prospective filming locations.
What it could mean for local businesses
The Texas Film Commission’s program overview identifies lodging, catering, transportation, location fees, construction supplies and local hiring as ways media productions can generate local spending.
Neither official source provides Garland-specific production, spending or job totals, so the certification does not establish local economic results.
