Visitors can again use the Loyd Park boat ramp at Joe Pool Lake, but swimming remains closed at two beaches, according to the latest available city information and reporting.
The two closed swimming areas are Lynn Creek swim beach and Loyd Park swim beach. Grand Prairie said the closures remain in place while bacteria levels are monitored following a Trinity River Authority line break.
Boat access is not swimming access
NBC 5 reported July 9 that the Loyd Park boat ramp had reopened. That update applies to the ramp, not the adjacent swimming beach.
The Loyd Park boat ramp is open, while the Loyd Park and Lynn Creek swim beaches remain closed.
Grand Prairie’s closure notice says all other areas of Joe Pool Lake remain open. The city also said public drinking-water supplies were not threatened or contaminated.
What determines reopening
The beaches are to remain closed until water quality complies with state standards. The city has not supplied a reopening date in the approved update, so visitors should check its notice for current status and public-health contact information before planning to swim.
