A three-alarm fire at Cambridge Park Condominiums in northeast Dallas destroyed at least 24 individually owned units and displaced about 45 residents, according to NBC 5.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded at about 1 a.m. to the complex in the 11400 block of Audelia Road, NBC 5 and CBS Texas reported. No injuries were reported, and the cause remained under investigation.
Why the reported totals differ
The estimates of 45 displaced residents and approximately 80 people receiving Red Cross help describe different groups, not conflicting counts.
The smaller number is the reported estimate of residents displaced from the destroyed condos. NBC 5 said the broader assistance count also included people affected by evacuation, power loss or water damage in a neighboring building.
That distinction shows the fire’s reach beyond the units that were destroyed: Some neighboring residents needed help even if they were not counted among those displaced from their homes.
CBS Texas reported that the American Red Cross was notified to help residents with immediate needs. NBC 5 reported that the organization was assisting approximately 80 people across the wider group affected by the fire and its aftermath.
