Cinemark Cedar Hill is scheduled for a $3.75 million renovation beginning Aug. 17, 2026, with recliner seating, two XD auditoriums and about 50 D-BOX seats among the planned changes.
The state construction registration covers 42,032 square feet and lists Feb. 8, 2027, as the scheduled completion date. Its scope also includes remodeling the concessions and restrooms, updating corridor finishes and making minor exterior upgrades.
Fewer seats, more premium options
The registration provides the construction window, while Cedar Hill’s executed city agreement spells out the scale of the seating change. The agreement describes replacing 2,094 seats with approximately 1,075 luxury recliners across 14 auditoriums.
It also calls for two XD auditoriums and approximately 50 D-BOX seats, along with remodeling in customer-facing areas. Together, the records show a theater moving toward recliners and premium formats while reducing its overall seat count.
What moviegoers see now
Cinemark’s current Cedar Hill theater page identifies stadium seating. That listing provides the customer-facing baseline for the more extensive seating and auditorium changes described in the state and city records.
The filed schedule runs from Aug. 17, 2026, through Feb. 8, 2027. The approved records describe the planned work but do not provide further details about how moviegoing will operate during construction.
