Where and when the advisory applies
The advisory runs from noon to 8 p.m. CDT Monday, July 20. It covers Dallas, Tarrant, Denton and Collin counties, along with numerous surrounding counties in North and Central Texas.
The weather service warns that the conditions increase the risk of heat illness, particularly during outdoor work and activities. For Monday, the practical risk window is noon through 8 p.m., especially for people who expect to spend time outside.
Dangerous heat may persist this week
Monday’s advisory adds a defined warning period to the DFW heat forecast published Sunday.
Afternoon and evening heat-index values of 105 to 112 degrees are forecast during the week. The weather service’s Fort Worth office says heat advisories will likely continue through the end of the week.
