Rockwall County says FM 1139 at FM 549 will close nightly during a work window beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, July 24, and ending at 6 a.m. Sunday, July 26.
The closure is described as nightly, not as a continuous shutdown across the entire period. Drivers should follow posted detour signs rather than relying on an assumed route.
How the intersection will change
The project will realign FM 1139 into a 90-degree intersection with FM 549, a configuration intended to improve sight distance. A traffic-signal study may be requested after construction.
Under the planned configuration, drivers traveling from FM 1139 toward northbound SH 205 will turn left onto FM 549, then turn right at the new SH 205 signal.
On the return trip from southbound SH 205, drivers will make a protected left onto FM 549 and then turn right onto FM 1139.
FM 549 project timeline
The FM 549 widening project is underway, with completion anticipated on Jan. 31, 2029. The weekend work comes during a project that has also brought weekday lane closures and delays along FM 549.
