Frisco’s Aug. 1 Chunk Your Junk: Eligibility, item limits and fees

Only Frisco utility-billing customers qualify; bring matching ID and water-bill addresses, and enter the line by 12:30 p.m.

Frisco’s Chunk Your Junk event is scheduled for Aug. 1 from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Environmental Collection Center, 6616 Walnut Street. The drive-up event is limited to qualifying Frisco residents.

Who can participate

  • Participants must be Frisco residents with a city utility-billing account.
  • Bring a driver’s license and city water bill showing matching addresses.
  • Apartment residents and commercial account holders are not eligible.

What the event accepts

Accepted materials include paper for shredding, bundled cardboard, plastic bags, Styrofoam, prescription medication, yard waste, untreated wood, metal, trash, recycling, household hazardous waste, electronics, refrigerators and donations.

Limits and charges

  • Paper shredding is limited to four qualifying boxes.
  • Each household may bring up to two televisions.
  • Paint and household hazardous waste are limited to 20 total gallons.
  • An appliance containing Freon carries a $40 charge applied to the resident’s utility account.

Arrival, unloading and weather

Long lines are expected, and residents should enter the line by 12:30 p.m. The event is drive-up only.

Residents generally unload their own materials. Hazardous waste is the exception, and assistance is available for heavy items.

The event is scheduled to continue rain or shine, but operations may pause during severe or dangerous weather. Call 972-292-5900 for updates.
