Garland library grants fund outreach vehicle, Spanish-language books

The vehicle is aimed at multifamily communities, senior residences, schools and events, but the city has not announced routes or a launch date.

Garland Public Libraries received a Fiscal Year 2027 Special Projects Grant for a dedicated outreach vehicle.

The vehicle is intended to expand library services across Garland, particularly for multifamily communities, senior residential facilities, schools and community events.

What the two grants cover

The outreach project is supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Texas State Library and Archives Commission under the Library Services and Technology Act.

Separately, Garland Central Library will receive $2,500 for Spanish-language board books. The 2026 collection-enhancement grant list names Nicholson Memorial Central Library among 70 recipients across Texas.

What Garland residents still need to know

The city has not announced a launch date, routes or a service schedule for the vehicle. For now, the grant establishes its outreach mission and intended audiences, but not when or where residents will first be able to use it.
