Highland Park targets September start for Eastern Avenue rebuild

The town expects limited road access during weekday work and says residents will get advance notice of planned driveway interruptions.

Highland Park is targeting September 2026 to begin the Eastern Avenue reconstruction project. The town’s current project page covers Eastern Avenue from Bordeaux Avenue to Mockingbird Lane.

Costs and project limits differ across records

The three records use different figures and project limits.

A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation registration lists the project as a $2.9 million renovation or alteration. The town’s current project page gives an estimated cost of $2.7 million and identifies Bordeaux Avenue to Mockingbird Lane as the work area.

An earlier capital plan estimated the reconstruction at $2,918,321, listed limits from Westside Drive to Mockingbird Lane and described road, water, sewer and drainage work.

What residents should expect

The current project page says the work includes pavement reconstruction, water-main rehabilitation, stormwater improvements and sidewalk improvements.

Limited roadway access is expected during work, which is generally scheduled on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The town says residents will receive advance notice of planned roadway or driveway interruptions.

Trash and recycling service will continue, with minor adjustments as needed.

A separate state registration recently added a $5.1 million estimate to work associated with Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson.
