Kaufman appraisal-board filing closes Aug. 17: What candidates need to submit

Applicants must choose an at-large place and send separate documents to county and appraisal-district officials; voter registration closes Oct. 5.

The filing window for Kaufman County’s Nov. 3 appraisal-district board election closes at 5 p.m. Aug. 17, 2026. According to Kaufman County’s election page, filing began July 18.

Candidates need to complete a two-office process before the filing deadline.

Candidate filing checklist

  1. Select a place. The ballot application must identify at-large Place 1, Place 2 or Place 3.
  2. Submit the ballot application. The ballot application goes to the county clerk or elections administrator.
  3. Send the separate acknowledgment. The signed acknowledgment of directors’ duties goes separately to the appraisal district’s chief appraiser.

Kaufman Central Appraisal District identifies Sarah Curtis as chief appraiser. The district lists 3950 S. Houston St. in Kaufman as its physical address and 972-932-6081 as its phone number.

Deadline for voters

Kaufman County lists Oct. 5, 2026, as the voter-registration deadline for the Nov. 3 election.
