A minor was injured in a shooting at a Little Elm short-term rental late Friday, police say.

Officers reportedly responded around 11:30 p.m. to reports of gunshots and juveniles running near White Oak Drive and White Pine Drive.

What police reported

Police said the minor sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and reached a hospital before officers arrived.

The rental had been booked for a minor’s birthday party, and most of the attendees were Lewisville High School students, according to police.

Police described the shooting as isolated and said there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Possible action over the rental

Little Elm prohibits parties and events at short-term rentals. Police said the town is reviewing possible enforcement against the property owner.

The investigation and the possible enforcement action remain open.
