Fort Worth free dental clinic closes for $345,856 renovation, plans 2026 return

The Hemphill Street clinic is not accepting new patients during construction; a local resource lists six alternatives with addresses and phone numbers.

Salt & Light Dental Clinic at 1516 Hemphill Street is temporarily closed for construction and is not accepting new patients. The Fort Worth clinic plans to reopen later in 2026, but no firm reopening date has been announced.

A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation record registers the work as a $345,856 renovation or alteration. Project TABS2026025243 is currently listed as Project Registered.

What the clinic plans to add

Salt & Light says the rebuilt clinic will continue offering free comprehensive dental care to underserved adults. The organization expects the renovation to increase patient capacity, extend its operations and broaden its services.

Its planned post-renovation services include comprehensive dentistry other than orthodontics and pediatric dentistry. The clinic also plans to use 3D printing, intraoral scanning and cone-beam CT imaging.

Where patients can look for care now

Patients who need dental care before the planned reopening can use a Tarrant County dental-care resource listing six alternatives in Fort Worth and Arlington, including addresses and phone numbers.

First Presbyterian Church Fort Worth’s Community Crossroads page also carries the clinic’s closure notice and says Salt & Light is not accepting new patients during construction.

Another registered Tarrant County healthcare project is the planned $500,000 operating-room renovation at North Hills Hospital in Richland Hills.
