TRWD says Cedar Creek data-center water request is incomplete

TRWD says a Cedar Creek Reservoir water request for a proposed data center lacks enough information for technical review and has not been approved.

Published 1 minute read

A request to supply a proposed data center from Cedar Creek Reservoir remains incomplete and unapproved, according to the Tarrant Regional Water District.

TRWD said it has received requests concerning water for data centers, but the submissions did not contain enough information for a formal technical evaluation. The district was specifically approached about supplying a proposed data center from Cedar Creek Reservoir.

As of TRWD’s June 15 public update on the request, the district had neither approved it nor entered a new water contract specifically for the data center.

What would happen before approval

The incomplete submission would have to reach the formal evaluation stage before any resulting supply arrangement could advance. TRWD’s update does not establish that the proposed data center will receive reservoir water.

Any new raw-water supply contract would also require a vote by the TRWD board. That approval must take place in an open public meeting, giving the public a defined point in the process before a contract could be authorized.

For now, the district’s account establishes only that it was approached and lacked enough information to conduct its technical review.
