Texas DPS has added James Lee Kirby, 49, to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list and is offering up to $7,500 for information leading to his arrest.
The agency says Kirby has ties to Sherman and Cartwright, Oklahoma. DPS also describes him as an avid hunter with access to firearms and warns the public not to approach him.
What Sherman-area residents should do
Anyone who believes they have seen Kirby should keep their distance and submit the information through one of the anonymous channels listed in the DPS announcement. The agency accepts tips through the Crime Stoppers hotline, its website and the Texas 10 Most Wanted Facebook tip link.
Tipsters seeking the reward must use one of those approved channels. The DPS announcement contains the hotline and online submission links needed to send a tip while remaining anonymous.
Why DPS says he is wanted
DPS says Kirby is wanted on an Oklahoma failure-to-appear warrant connected to rape and incest charges. The agency also lists a Grayson County warrant connected to aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault charges.
Those charges are allegations; the DPS announcement identifies warrants and does not adjudicate the accusations.
