Wednesday heat-index values may reach 114 to 116 degrees across several DFW counties, according to an updated National Weather Service zone forecast.
The forecast distinguishes the expected air temperature from the heat index, which describes how hot conditions may feel.
Wednesday forecast by county
- Dallas County: Dallas is forecast to reach about 104 degrees, with a heat index up to 115.
- Denton County: Denton is forecast to reach about 104 degrees, with a heat index up to 115.
- Tarrant County: Fort Worth and Arlington are forecast to reach about 105 degrees, with a heat index up to 114.
- Collin County: Cities in the county are forecast near 103 degrees, with a heat index up to 114.
- Kaufman County: Terrell, Kaufman and Forney are forecast to reach about 105 degrees, with a heat index up to 116.
The forecast is not a Wednesday advisory
The current zone forecast keeps the existing heat advisory in effect only through 8 p.m. Monday. It does not include a later-week extension or upgrade.
NWS Fort Worth says heat indices near or above 105 are expected across much of the area through the week and that advisories will likely continue. Readers should recheck current NWS alerts before making Wednesday plans.
