The department warns that flight cancellations and periodic airspace closures may disrupt travel. It advises Americans abroad to follow alerts from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
Before departure

- Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, known as STEP.
- Monitor the State Department’s security-update channels.
- Confirm the flight’s status with the airline before leaving for the airport.
- Check whether the booking qualifies for a change or refund under the airline’s current terms.
What Qatar Airways passengers should check
Qatar Airways advises passengers to check its website or app, keep their contact details current and avoid going to the airport without a valid confirmed ticket.
The airline says eligible tickets issued by May 15 for travel through September 15 may receive date-change options. Passengers with affected bookings may qualify for a fee-free change within 14 days or a refund of the unused ticket value, subject to the airline’s stated conditions.
The worldwide notice does not establish that a flight at DFW Airport is currently canceled or that the airport has issued a separate advisory. Travelers should verify their own itinerary and applicable ticket terms.
