Garland says the Naaman School Road project from Brand Road to State Highway 78 is expected to be completed in 2028. The work will elevate the roadway from the floodplain while rebuilding the corridor with new lanes, bridges, drainage, utilities and pedestrian connections.
The timing is described differently in two city documents. Garland’s July infrastructure update gives 2028 as the expected completion year, while the city’s 2026 capital plan listed construction through the third quarter of 2027. For residents tracking the project, 2028 is the city’s latest stated completion expectation.
What Garland plans to build
The project calls for four divided concrete lanes and two bridges over Spring Creek. Plans also include a 12-foot shared-use path, enclosed storm drainage, and water and wastewater improvements.
Garland’s latest infrastructure update says the project will provide pedestrian and trail connections in addition to lifting the road out of the floodplain.
Shiloh Road remains in design
The city says its Shiloh Road project between Kingsley Road and Miller Road is in the design phase. That project is separate from the railroad crossing work covered in DFW Daily Brief’s update on the Kingsley Road closure west of Shiloh.
Across Garland, work is underway on approximately 200 streets during the first year of the 2025 Grow Garland Proposition A program.
