A new state registration lists an estimated construction cost of $8,513,179 for the in-service reality-based training component of Dallas’ planned police training center. Together, four registered campus components now carry estimates totaling $98,019,791.
Four registered components
The four Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records cover separate pieces of the planned campus:
- In-service reality-based training: $8,513,179
- In-service academy: $40,124,792
- Basic academy: $37,099,577
- Criminal Justice Center: $12,282,243
Together, the four registrations carry estimated construction costs of $98,019,791. The registrations provide estimates for those individual packages; they are not final costs or evidence that construction has begun.
The new record follows previously reported filings for the basic and in-service academies and the Criminal Justice Center.
How the filings compare with the city’s broader figures
The registration total is narrower than Dallas’ overall project calculation. A May 2026 city cost table estimated $53.4 million for the combined in-service academy and reality-based training scope and $226.5 million in total project funding needs. The city warned that changes to project packages could require adjustments.
A separate city campus outline identifies the basic and in-service academies, reality-based training buildings supporting each academy, a physical-tactics pavilion and a Criminal Justice Center as distinct components.
The $98,019,791 total therefore represents four registration estimates, while the $226.5 million figure represents the city’s broader assessment of total project funding needs.
Funding and schedule
Dallas said in April that $96.5 million had been committed to the training center. At that time, the city projected a September 2026 groundbreaking and completion in 2028.
