Permanent Daylight Time Passed the House, but DFW Clocks Are Still Set to Change Nov. 1

The House vote was 308-117, and Senate consideration remains required before the measure can become law.

The U.S. House passed H.R. 139, the Sunshine Protection Act, by a 308-117 vote on July 14, 2026, but the vote did not make permanent daylight time federal law.

What DFW residents should plan for

The measure still requires Senate consideration and has not become law, according to the House committee announcement.

Under current federal rules, daylight saving time is scheduled to end at 2 a.m. local time on Nov. 1, 2026. The date remains on the current NIST schedule.
