A Saginaw man was reportedly sentenced to 17 years in federal prison in a fentanyl case connected to a March 2023 overdose death in Argyle.
The reported sentence is the latest step in a case that began with two charges but produced a guilty finding on one count.

How the case began
In its 2023 indictment announcement, the Justice Department said the case followed a March 8 overdose death in Argyle that an autopsy attributed to fentanyl.
The original indictment contained two counts. Count One charged a fentanyl distribution conspiracy. Count Two alleged possession with intent to distribute fentanyl resulting in death.
Investigators reportedly said the victim took pills presented as hydrocodone that contained fentanyl.
